Nora Katurakes, RN, manager of Community Health Outreach and Education at Christiana Care's Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, received the 2009 Wilmington Award for advancing the health of city residents. Katurakes received the honor from Mayor James M. Baker at Wilmington City Council Chambers on Oct. 7. Focusing on the education of women and their families, Katurakes has developed and implemented a number of community and faith-based activities. She has created access to health screenings for cancer and cardiovascular diseases. "Nora exemplifies her commitment by providing health screening in multiple settings and at non-traditional times allowing a greater number of people to receive services and assistance with navigating the health care maze," according to a program announcement. Katurakes serves the Wilmington community as a member of the City's Health Planning Council, the Delaware Cancer Consortium and as a board member of the Henrietta Johnson Medical Center. She received the American Cancer Society Award for Community Mission Delivery in 2005 and the Light of Life Award from the Susan G. Komen Philadelphia in 2007
